STRATEGIC PLANNING
"Plans are useless, but planning is indispensable."

Throughout my career, I have participated in several strategic planning exercises and taken ownership of many complex projects. Though nothing as earth-shattering as the D-Day invasion, I have designed development timelines, project charters, annual marketing plans, and strategic scorecard goals. Invariably, the plans we built often changed as soon as the work was underway. Sometimes the changes were quite dramatic! This is a frustrating experience for many, but something I understand as central to the process. I enjoy ambiguity. I also enjoy a well-defined plan. What I enjoy most however, is successfully completing a project by adapting as the work unfolds. At present, I am reading Blue Ocean Strategy and Jim Collins to improve my knowledge in the field.
